Safe photos of your newborn in your home, outside, or in the studio
We’ve all had to be creative to do a LOT of “normal” in these strange times, but can we do COVID newborn photography and stay safe?
Let’s get creative!
Sure! All it takes is a little ingenuity, a touch of flexibility, and willingness to let go of preconceived notions of what newborn photography SHOULD look like. No props, no elaborate set ups, NO HUGS from the photographer. (darn.)

Over the past few months, I’ve been able to safely photograph some gorgeous newborns and their families outside their homes, inside their homes, and inside my studio in Newtown.
COVID newborn photography isn’t that different, really. Of course we use the social distancing guidelines to stay safe. We stay far apart, we wer face coverings when we’re close, we disinfect, we wash.
Yup, it’s a little awkward…
On one hand, it’s just a little bit awkward (but, what isn’t these days!). I have to yell my directions from behind my face covering. We have to stop to Purell after each touch.
On the other hand, it’s worth any logistical issues because we get some wonderful newborn photos. These aren’t your typical swaddled and posed newborn photos, but I’m not that into formality anyway. (See my blog post on breaking the rules HERE.)

These are newborn photos that show the reality and beauty of the moment. It shows how families are still thriving and moving forward. How families, even in the worst situations, are still strong and loving and resilient.
These photos will show how your family came together in a crisis to love and support each other. How you persevered to bring this beautiful new life into the world.
Don’t put off newborn photos during these strange and scary times! Tell your baby’s story with COVID newborn photography. It will be safe, fun, and worth all of the hassle.
