We’re married… Let’s go to the beach!

Beach wedding!?… I’m in!

Any couple that decides to have a beach wedding deserves fun and casual photos of the occasion. Although I tend to always say that I don’t do weddings, this seemed like the type of fun event that would be perfect for my more documentary style of photography. So, I said yes, and they said “I do.”

Vows exchanged at the water’s edge.

“It’s going to be a very simple celebration…”

Yup, I’ve heard that before. Every bride who intends on having a quick ceremony with a few friends and family quickly feels the pull of tradition. This is where a simple beach wedding turns into a BIG DEAL.

We need relatives! We need music! We need a big reception! We need a photographer.

Since I specialize in family photography… trying to find authentic moments in small sessions, it doesn’t seem like this is my wheel house… Or is it?

Authentic moments are easy to find, even at weddings.

Tradition with a side of F-U-N.

Even though it was officially a wedding, this couple and their loved ones were more focused on having fun and sharing their love than following any stiff protocol. All of the friends — the just-one-more crowd — were happy to be in every shot… Including the semi-official wedding photos at the beach after the ceremony.

So, it seems like I still can say “I don’t do weddings”  but I can say “I do beach weddings with amazing people.”

They’re still smiling, even though the wedding is over!
