Soft Opening with Model Sessions This Weekend
All of the pain and the hard work of moving, remodeling, painting, is beginning to pay off! This weekend we had the soft opening of my family photo studio, right in my own home in Newtown, CT! The first few sessions were so much fun, it was great to see some old and new friends. Some clients that I’ve been photographing since they were babies—like this beauty— came over to get some updated photos and a tour of the house and studio.

The new photo studio space utilizes the entire converted attached apartment in our new home, which was built in Sandy Hook WAY back in 1840. It’s loaded with nooks, crannies, and lotso’ charm. The awesome natural light from this beautiful window in the spacious main room is one of the best locations I’ve seen for soft indoor light.
There is still some work to be done, mainly to expand the main room in the studio, and that will happen this spring. Eventually there will be enough room for newborn photography, portrait photography and, of course, children and families. Oh, and it’s a quick and easy way to update your headshot.
Much better than typical school photos, right?
This “soft opening” was to get some brand-new portfolio samples for my new line of fine art school portraits. I’ve been photographing preschools and daycares in Fairfield County for a few years now (check out info on that here), and I’m looking to extend that line into private and public grade schools. It’s a whole new look which will set me apart from other companies that offer school photos.
